Aroma, the Cafe designed by The Wicked Coffee Company, has been entered into the prestigious Restaurant & Bar Design Awards for 2009.
A designer was employed by The Wicked Coffee Company to take the existing Wicked Coffee 'Jungle' concept into the Abertay University Student Centre by creating a larger more vibrant Cafe environment. Drawing upon the brand's core values, we specified where possible eco-friendly materials and finishes. Special features such as the sweeping, curved ceiling canopies interspaced with natural cork lighting pendants, draw onlookers towards the servery counter on which contrasting, natural materials of Zebrano wood clad the face and vivid orange Marmoleun is inset into the top. All these elements combine to envelop the 'coffee altar' located within the servery's back-fitting.
Accent spotlighting throughout the space is implemented to highlight key areas. A variety of furniture options offer a striking contrast between finishes of timber and eye-catching upholstery. The result is a friendly, dynamic and inviting space where the challenge was to create a design which is adaptable to different locations and ideal for the student market.
